Frequently asked questions.

When should I schedule senior photos?

I recommend booking your session 3-6 months ahead of time. I shoot sessions year round so any time of year is great! If you don’t have a seasonal preference, summer is what I recommend because the weather is usually great and you’ll have your photos back early so you can use them throughout the entire school year. A few other things to consider with the seasons - spring and summer tend to be more lush and green and there are typically floral options. Summer and early fall are best if you senior prefers to wear warmer weather clothes like shorts or dresses and there are typically floral and water options. Fall and winter tend to have more neutral colors and can be ideal if your senior prefers jeans and sweaters.

What time of day is best for photos?

Ideal timing will vary depending on location. Most of my sessions take place shortly after sunrise or 2-3 hours before sunset so we can shoot in the glowy, golden light.

How can we personalize our photos?

There are lots of ways to personalize your senior session. We can incorporate sports, hobbies, pets, family heirlooms and anything else you’d like. We’ll also have a planning call where we’ll talk through location (city, woodsy, floral, school, etc.) styling and other ways we can personalize your session.

How does the planning process work?

I know everyone’s looking for something slightly different so I customize each session to best fit your family’s needs. I have some families who come in with a detailed vision while other families are starting from scratch and would like help picking locations, looks and the like. Either way, I usually start with a planning phone call so I can learn more about your senior and your family. On this call, we can talk through your questions, talk about location options, ways to personalize photos and styling. After the initial call, we can continue planning by phone calls, text and/or email.

Can we add family, friend and/or pets in our photos?

Yes. I photograph lots of pets and I have session enhancements that include friends and/or family.

How long do galleries take?

I hand edit every single photo in your gallery. Most galleries take 2-3 weeks for editing but during peak season galleries may take up to 5 weeks.

Do you have indoor options?

Yes. I use a studio in uptown Westerville but if doesn’t offer the look you’re going for we can always rent another studio or we can use a public indoor space like a library, school or home.

How do you help camera shy seniors?

Getting in front of the camera solo will make some students feel nervous. I don’t love being in front of the camera so I can totally relate. I put a lot of time and effort into getting to know your senior before and during their session so they feel as calm and confident as possible. Before their session, I explain the process, give some tips and let them know we’re here to have fun! During their session, I’ll talk with them to boost their confidence and put them at ease and I’ll also help with prompts and posing to ensure their look is true to their personality and style.

Do you help with styling?

Yes. I love to help with styling and can be involved as much as you’d like. I also subscribe to an online styling tool that you’re welcome to use and I have client closet clothes (for the whole family) that you can borrow.

How are payments made?

You can pay via Venmo, cash, check, credit card, debit card or ACH. I also offer interest-free payment plans, if you’d like to spread your payments out across a few weeks or months.
